I would never have thought there was that much racial tension brewing in Minneapolis, a large Midwestern city, but that's what we are seeing.  Very sad seeing this happen across the country now.  Makes you wonder what is going to happen next...

Even if Trump were to be revealed as the Dark Lord of the Sith, he's still better than the last four presidents we've had.

They are protesting in downtown Louisville right now and the word is they are going to walk all the way to Shelbvyille, 30 miles East...(which happens to be near me).

I haven't really mentioned this before, but having lived most of my life in Minnesota, and now having lived a significant amount of time in the Deep South, I can say that racial relations are different (I prefer them in the South).

In the North, since it's more predominantly white, race relations seem to be less at ease because:

  1. there are fewer minorities in general, and therefore fewer minorities in positions of authority,
  2. there is a large liberal white population which emphasizes race, possibly as a means of virtue signaling, and
  3. the smaller minority population means they form closer-knit groups, which perpetuates organic cultural segretation

In the South, race relations seem to be more at ease, almost like there's more of a feeling of "we're all in this together".

Anyway, I'm saying all of this because I can understand why racial tensions would be brewing in Minneapolis, even though the city has for a long time been left-leaning.

That's pretty insightful Phid.  I guess minorities have actually gained more acceptance and positions of authority in the South than anywhere else in the nation.  Kinda ironic really.  I believe there are more opportunities for minorities in the South now than ever before too, which also helps ease the tensions...though I'm sure they are still bubbling under the surface there too.
