I say it is possible but not likely.   There will be a compromise between both parties.   China will be a little different afterwards. 

Do you think it would really rip their nation apart?  I think the much liklier (but sad) result would simply be that the Chinese government steamrolls the protestors and locks them up (or worse) to put an end to it.  What's going to happen?  If the NBA has already shown it's too afraid to even permit mild criticism of China, it's hard to believe other U.S. companies would go against the government by speaking out.  China holds a lot of power here.

Closest would be "Compromise on both sides leading to major political reforms for China but will remain a communist nation" but I don't think there will be major political reforms.  I think they'll peter out with the possibility that there will be additional protests or worse down the road. 

Of course, I really have no idea.
