With Ole Miss losing to Miami, the SEC will have no representation at the National Championship game on January 19.  It will actually mark the third year in a row that the SEC has not been represented, which is quite a shock given that the prior eight championship games have had at least one SEC vying for the title.

What makes matters worse is that there were five SEC teams that entered this year's playoff, and they won a grand total of three games.

So has the SEC's reign as the pre-eminent conference come to an end?  Has the quality of the SEC declined, or have the other conferences just gotten better?

Also, does the playoff itself show that this is a better judge of college football quality than the overall rankings are?

No the SEC isn't dead.  However, in the NIL era, teams like Texas Tech and Indiana can buy a team for a year and make a run thus making it far harder for SEC teams to amass talent so far above the other teams anymore.

Even if Trump were to be revealed as the Dark Lord of the Sith, he's still better than the last four presidents we've had.
