So the New Mexico governor just revoked the right to publicly carry some firearms under the guise of an "emergency order". I saw the interview with her when she said that she understands the constitutional issues involved, but that this was needed because of the "emergency".
So will this be the new tactic of the left going forward to push its ideology? Will it simply suspend all sorts of constitutional protections in the name of some ideologically-perceived emergencies? Because if so, none of us are really safe any more. They'll justify whatever they want. In the minds of irrational people, anything can be an "emergency" so long as they yell and scream about it loudly enough.
She is testing to see what she can get away with. My guess is she will get away with it. We will have to see how resolved the people of New Mexico really are to protect their Second Amendment Rights.
Even if Trump were to be revealed as the Dark Lord of the Sith, he's still better than the last four presidents we've had.
You think she'll get away with it? My thinking is that this quite clearly will get struck down. However, it seems this may be part of a larger effort for Dem states to start implementing policy by fiat under the justification of "emergency", and this may just be pushing the Overton window in that direction. The public started getting used to this kind of thing during COVID, so they don't want to let that feeling wear off too much. I expect more of a push to declare climate "emergencies", or maybe racial "emergencies", etc. going forward.
And if those things don't get the job done, a world war with Russia just might.
